How to Record a TestPermanent link for this heading

Here it is described how you can record a test by using the Fabasoft app.test Click-Recorder. First of all you have to start Fabasoft app.test ("Start">"Programs">"Fabasoft app.test">"Fabasoft app.test") and open a test file by double clicking it in the "Projects" view.

For recording tests the Fabasoft app.test Recorder is used. You can start the Fabasoft app.test Recorder by clicking the "Start/Stop Recorder" button in the "Outline" view (only if a test file is opened).

A dialog is opened where you can enter the properties for starting the Fabasoft app.test Recorder. Following, the fields that must be set are described:

Address - Enter the address of the system that should be tested (e.g. of a Fabasoft Folio domain).
Client Type - Select "Microsoft Internet Explorer" for using this web browser to create the test.

Username - Enter the login of the test user.
Password - Enter the password of the test user.

After entering the properties click "OK" for starting the Fabasoft app.test Recorder.

Before starting to record steps make sure that the sequence or use case where you want to insert the recorded statements is selected within the test (in the "Outline" view).

Change to the Fabasoft app.test Client Adaptor that has opened when starting the Fabasoft app.test Recorder and click "Start Recording".

Note: In the Fabasoft app.test Client Adaptor the user interface of the tested system is shown.

After clicking this button each step you execute in the Fabasoft app.test Client Adaptor (clicking a button, setting an input field etc.) is recorded as an execution statement in Fabasoft app.test. You can see this in the Fabasoft app.test Studio in the "Outline"view.

If you want to stop recording each step in the Fabasoft app.test Client Adaptor, click the "Stop Recording" in the bottom right corner (again).

Finally, you have to stop the Fabasoft app.test Recorder by clicking the "Start/Stop Recorder" button in the "Outline" view again and save the test you have recorded ("File">"Save").
