How to Run a TestPermanent link for this heading

A test can be executed in the Fabasoft app.test Player.

Start the Fabasoft app.test PlayerPermanent link for this heading

After recording a test it can be executed in the Fabasoft app.test Player.

  • Therefore, open the context menu of the test to be executed in the "Projects" view and select "Run".
  • A dialog is opened where you can enter the properties for starting the Fabasoft app.test Player.

Following, the fields are described that should be set for running a test:

"Run" tab

These fields must at least be set for starting the Fabasoft app.test Player:

  • Address - Enter the address in this field, where the system to be tested can be found (e.g. Fabasoft Folio).
  • Client Type - Select the web browser that should be used for testing ("Microsoft Internet Explorer" or "Mozilla Firefox").
  • On Error - Here you can decide how the Fabasoft app.test Player should react if an error occurs. Select "Continue" for not stopping the test run if an error occurs.

Screenshot - It is very useful to select the "Screenshot" check box, because then each time an error occurs a screenshot of the currently shown user interface is created.

"Login" tab

These fields must be set:

  • Username - Enter the login of the test user.
  • Password - Enter the password of the test user.

"Reporting" tab

For creating a report this field must be set:

  • Report Name - Here you can enter the name of the report that should be generated. You can only use characters that are allowed in file names, too. If you want to reference the name of the test, use {~testname~} (reference to the parameter which contains the test name).

Progress of a Running TestPermanent link for this heading

While a test is executed in the Fabasoft app.test Player the progress is shown in the "Test State" view of the Fabasoft app.test Studio.

In the "Test State" view you can see how many statements are executed totally, how many of them have already been executed and also the amount of errors that have occured till now.

If the test run has finished, you can delete the terminated job(s) by clicking the "Remove all terminated jobs" button in the "Test State" view.

View the Report of Test RunPermanent link for this heading

After a test run has finished a report is created. These reports are structured into folders - for each executed test file a folder is created. In this folder you can find all reports of this test.

To open a report double click it in the "Projects" view. It is opened at the bottom of the Fabasoft app.test Studio.

All statements are listed as well as their success. If a statement has caused an error (and you decided to create screenshots if an error occurs), a link to the screenshot can also be found in the report (beyond the error message). This is quite useful for identifying a problem.
