Multiple architecture supportPermanent link for this heading

Following options are available when selecting the architecture of the launched adaptor process:

  • Default (default)
    The architecture of the launched adaptor process is automatically choosen. If no appropriate Java VM or app.test Installation/adaptor bundle plug-in can be found, the fall back will be used; wich may result in an error message if the combination is not supported by app.test. Details see table below.
  • Same as Agent/Studio (same)
    The architecture of the launched adaptor process will be the same architecture as the app.test Studio/Eclipse or app.test Agent when launching the Adaptor remotely.
    If the architecture is not available, an error will be shown.
  • 32-bit (x86)
    The Adaptor will be forcibly started as 32-bit process. The app.test Agent/Studio installation directories (default installation directories on Linux) and in Eclipse, all adaptor bundle plug-ins will be checked for an appropriate Adaptor to launch.
    If not available, an error will be shown.
  • 64-bit (x64)
    The Adaptor will be forcibly started as 64-bit process. The app.test Agent/Studio installation directories (default installation directories on Linux and Mac) and in Eclipse, all adaptor bundle plug-ins will be checked for an appropriate Adaptor to launch.
    If not available, an error will be shown.

To select an appropriate Java VM following elements are searched for JRE/JDK installations:

  • Windows
    • Registry Keys (all WOW nodes) HKLM\Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\*\JavaHome
    • Registry Keys (all WOW nodes) HKLM\Software\JavaSoft\Java Development Kit\*\JavaHome
    • Directories <All Program Files Directories>\Java\*
    • Executables %WINDIR%\System32\java.exe and %WINDIR%\SysWOW64\java.exe
    • Environment variables JAVA_HOME, JRE_HOME, JDK_HOME
    • Executable java in current path
  • Apple OS X
    • Directories /usr/java/*
    • Directories /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/*
    • Executable /usr/bin/java
    • Environment variables: JAVA_HOME, JRE_HOME, JDK_HOME
