2017 October Release

"Outline" ViewPermanent link for this heading

The "Outline" view shows the structure of all elements contained in the file currently opened in the Fabasoft app.test Studio. This means, all statements (execution, set, validation), context switches, use cases, sequences and parameters tables are shown. If the file is changed (e.g. if a statement is recorded or an element is deleted), the "Outline" view is updated too.

In here you can also copy, cut, paste and delete elements (in the context menu) as well as add new elements ("Insert ..." buttons) which means the "Outline" view is the main tool for changing the structure of the file.

Here is a short description of the buttons available in the "Outline" view:

  • "Insert Language File"
Click this button to insert the reference to a language file for internationalizing a test (see chapter “How to Internationalize Tests”).
  • "Insert Parameter Table"
Click this button to add a parameter table to a test (see chapter “Insert Parameter Table”).
  • "Insert Sequence"
Click this button to add a sequence to a test.
  • "Insert Use Case"
Click this button to add a use case to a sequence.
  • "Insert Context"
Click this button to add a context switch to a use case or a sequence
  • “Insert Repeat”
Click this button to add a repeat statement (see chapter “Repeat Statement”)
  • "Start/Stop Recorder"
Click this button to start or stop the Fabasoft app.test Recorder.
  • "Run in Recorder"
Click this button to run a file in the Fabasoft app.test Recorder. The advantage of running a test in the Fabasoft app.test Recorder is that you can debug the test and immediately correct errors. If you want to get a report file (which shows in detail which statements have been executed correctly and which have not), you have to run it in the Fabasoft app.test Player.
  • "Terminate"
Click this button to stop running a file in the Fabasoft app.test Recorder.
  • "Step Into"
Click this button to run a single statement in the Fabasoft app.test Recorder (see chapter “How to Run One Single Statement”).
  • "Toggle Breakpoint"
Click this button to add a breakpoint to the currently selected statement in the "Outline" view (see chapter “How to Add Breakpoints”).
